Argentina - Costanera Sur Reserve

It was very clear that the birds were not bothered in the slightest by people or noise with many becoming very tame such as the below water birds and Guira Cuckoo.  Just to prove the point even further, it was a Friday so in the evening hundreds of youngsters gathered on the promenade with ghetto blasters blaring out of car boots as well as a rock band patrolling up and down on the back of a trailer turning the area into an open air night club and were the birds bothered, not in the slightest.

Argentina Day 16 - Buenos Aries

Today was our last full day in Argentina and the plan was to spend the day in the fantastic Costanera Sur Reserve where over 100 species of bird are seen regularly in a day.  To our horror when we arrived at the entrance the gates were locked and were to remain that way all day.  We later found out that it was the first day of spring and the authorities had decided that due to this they would close the reserve to give the wildlife a respite from people, we had only one word to say - unbelievable.

All was not lost though as one lake was viewable from the promenade where a good selection of birds could be found including a few surprises and photo opportunities were good.
