Auks on Hornoya

There’s a lot of Auks on the Island of Hornoya - here we see mostly Guillemots and Razorbills with a few Brunnich’s Guillemots mixed in.

Gyr Falcon on Hornoya

Gyr falcon spotted from boat whilst looking for Brunnichs Guillemots - it had caught a Razorbill and was harassed by 3 Ravens!

Pine Grosbeaks

Male Pine Grosbeaks at the feeding station in Northern Finland - without these feeding stations it would be near impossible to see these birds due to deep snow making it impossible to venture into the forest and we aren’t talking about the sort of snow we get here in the UK but snow which is measured in feet rather than inches.

Eider Fest

King Eiders at Batsfjord, one of the 3 species of Eiders that makes this place so special..

Glaucous Gulls

30-40 Glaucous Gulls were present in the Vardo area…

The Aurora Borealis in Arctic Norway aka The Northern Lights

The Aurora forecast was accurate with a spectacular display on the Tuesday night but this was a level 3 rating out of 10 so we can only imagine what a level 10 would be - images below build up to a crescendo.
