Well as you can see the new pond is progressing - hampered by old electricity cables and land drains we have managed to dig a new pond 6m x 8m roughly twice the size of the old pond so hopefully twice as much wildlife! Amazingly only ten minutes ago I kid you not we had an Osprey fly straight over the new pond admittedly at height but what a fantastic garden tick and again minutes after the Osprey went through 2 Crossbills also flew over.
A dubious Osprey record apparently seen from the the hall gardens (and not from your garden).. ..will need to be varified by my non partisan review comiteee (Mother)!
ReplyDeleteLooking at the pond I'd go another foot down yet. nYou've got soft soil to dig - so its easy! I also like to leave a square central channel too as this is where leaves will gather when they sink to the bottom. The channel then becomes an easy place to net them out, without spreading all round the pond again.
