Spurn Point

A day at Spurn Point over the weekend revealed a nice selection of common migrants which included good views of Yellow-browed Warbler, Red-backed Shrike, Wheatears, Whinchats, a few Spotted and Pied Flycatchers and lots of Redstarts, including this very showy individual.

For a change we thought we would check various points of the south bank of the Humber Estuary that we rarely visit which produced a nice selection of birds including this obliging Pied Flycatcher.

Red-backed Shrike at Cleethorpes

Popped down to see this shrike which proved a good move as the bird performed well catching bees and other insects.  We then ended the day with fish & chips on the sea front.

Icterine Warbler, Burnham Overy

We have just had a wonderful week in North Norfolk on a family holiday which in principle means no birding however we did have one early morning quick trip to the next village to where we were staying to see this extremely tame Icterine Warbler, at times the bird was just too close!

The Great Tour - Day 30 Scarborough to Hull

Well after cycling 73 miles to get to Scarborough yesterday I'm delighted to say that Wayne and Rob were joined by Mark and Denise and successfully completed the Scarborough to Hull challenge today! So far £450 has been raised for the Anthony Nolan Trust and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone that very kindly sponsored them. It is still possible to donate here

The Great Tour

Normanby Hall Duathlon 2015

Last night the Normanby Hall Duathlon was held and so always up for a challenge Wayne and my brother Mark duly entered, the only problem was neither of them could run and as the race was a 5km run/20km bike ride/2.5km run the only way to enter was as a team so the search was on for runners and in steps Anna to run for Wayne and Dot to run for Mark - also spurred on by the challenge were Rob and Denise so 3 teams to shout for…
