Golden Oriole

A day trip down to Gibralter Point revealed this stunning male Golden Oriole in the East Dunes.  These birds are normally extremely shy and retiring and at the best of times you only get fleeting glimpses so it was a real surprise to find that this bird was very showy even sitting out on top of bushes in full view.  Nevertheless it was still very mobile feeding on the numerous caterpillars and with the strong heat haze it made photography difficult.
