Despite the poor spring weather we have experienced this year, with below average temperatures many woodland species locally appear to have had a good breeding season with many young on the wing at the moment. Having said that there could be a shortage of insects to feed on as the bird feeders in the garden are buzzing with birds.
A family party of Great-spotted Woodpeckers have taken up residence on the nut feeder with some comical antics as the adults try and feed the newly fledged juveniles.
